    SVA Plumb Financial Post Election Update

    We wanted to share our perspective after Tuesday’s surprise election resulting in Donald Trump winning the U.S. presidency and the Republicans sweeping the U.S. Senate and House. The world stock markets initially sold off as a Trump victory became clear. However, after Trump spoke Tuesday night, the U.S. stock market pared its losses with most global stock markets following suit. One notable exception was Mexico. The bond market reacted adversely with interest rates quickly moving higher, including the 10 year U.S. Treasury note rising above 2.0% for the first time since January 2016.
