SVA and the BBB are teaming up for ShredFest 2017
One man’s trash is another man’s identity. Every 3 seconds someone is a victim of identity theft. One way to protect yourself is to shred documents that are no longer needed.
If you don’t need it, destroy it!
Criminals can use your stolen personal and financial information to access your bank accounts, open new accounts, and apply for loans, credit cards and other goods and services. Prevention is key.
Anything that has your name on it should be shredded including:
- Utility bills
- Mortgage and loan documents
- Pay stubs
- Medical records
- Insurance documents
- Unsolicited credit card offers
- Old checks
- Junk mail
- Old tax returns
What should you save?
Check out SVA's Records Retention Guide to find out how long you should save important documents.
Limit of 3 Paper Bags/Boxes of documents per vehicle
